Mime: Embodied Poetry In Motion

Embodied Poetry in Motion

Mime is far more than simply replacing words with gestures—it is the pure essence of acting. When stripped of all external artifacts, objects, texts, and words, what remains is the body—the physical form. True acting is rooted in the present moment, shaping and crafting itself organically from this essence.

Unlike words, acting is not linear; it flows with embodiment, blending many aspects into a condensed expression of its own unique attributes—emotion, time, timelessness, and the limitations imposed by gravity upon the body, which becomes the primary tool of expression. The body serves as the medium through which the imagination is the limit. The outcome is a deeply metaphorical body language, open to interpretation, where visual and emotional elements blend into shapes and rhythms that speak to us in powerful and evocative ways.

In mime, the body is the medium—it becomes the canvas, the marble block, the camera, and the lens. Anything the imagination wishes to express through this medium is possible, with infinite possibilities to explore. Mime dares to abstract itself, following the deepest currents of inspiration, sometimes rising to express prayer, meditation, or other states of being.

My practice in mime is deeply rooted in the work of Étienne Decroux, the father of modern mime. The potential I discovered in his teachings continues to inspire me, motivating me once again to bring this creative energy back into my world. I hope to share the joy of creating “poetry in motion” with others. This ideal fuels my journey and inspires me to invite those who wish to explore this creative path. Together, let’s explore new heights of creativity, weaving movement and expression toward inspired ends, allowing our spirits to speak through our forms—like songs and poetry—physically rising against gravity, dreaming in motion.
